Notes for Georges REMY
George Remy was ennobled in France. He married a descendant of the Marchioness of Busancy (Buscany?), who died in 1357.
Comments
Alert: I feel that there significant enough discrepancies in dates and events in the following two generations to cast doubt on whether or not Georges Remy or his son Jacques were (as is usually asserted in Remy research) the ancestors of the Virginia branch of the Rameys (through Jacob Ramey of Westmoreland County, VA). Please be sure to read my comments as you proceed. [LKH]
Comments Notes for Beatrix (Spouse 1)
I have not been able to find any further information (or confirmation) regarding Beatrix de Rosserieres, or the [contents of the] estate which she inherited. I am also uncertain about the correctness of the spelling of "Buscany". I have seen other sources spell it "Busancy".
Misc. Notes
Beatrix was a descendant of her Highness, the Marchioness de Buscany. Buscany and Ivoy are both in the department of Ardenness. (From the archives of the Dept. of Ardeness, property rights in the Marquisat of Buscany, October 13, 1588). The Marchioness of de Buscany died in 1357. Beatrix was declared the last living relative of the French Queen, and inherited much wealth and property.104
Comment: Beatrix died in 1554, thirty-five years before the above property rights document was recorded. This posthumous document may have no bearing on it's veracity, I am only making an observation to be noted. [LKH] |
